My New Modem & Router

In August I started to notice my router would randomly kick me off the network and reset itself. Last month I finally had it, I decided to get a new router. Fortunately, I did buy an extended warranty (which I usually never do, but I just felt like the extra $8 could come in handy). So I went to squaretrade.com and filed a claim. Within two days of shipping the router out, I received my refund. It was a simple process.

Since I had to ship my router out, I decided to buy a router beforehand so I didn’t go without internet (it was the second to last of classes, so it was kind of essential). So I did some research and decided to go with the Linksys AC1750 MU-MIMO router. I also decided to get a new modem, since the one I was using was a router/modem combo, and I’m just not a fan of those. I feel that the performance isn’t as good as a dedicated modem,  so I purchased an Arris SB6183 surfboard modem.

The setup process for both the modem and the router was straightforward even after changing a lot of router settings.

The only part that took forever was when I had to call Spectrum. I had to call Spectrum so they could change my equipment serial number for me on my modem. This was the most lengthy part of the process. It nearly took an hour on the phone for my modem to final work.

Below is a quick little setup video I put together. Sorry, it’s not full screen 😦

SNES in hand!

Just got home from a nice late night run to Wal-Mart, where I picked up the new SNES Classic Mini. There were a few people in line but no more than 8. I waited for about 40 minutes before it turned midnight. Was chatting with the group of people that were there waiting as well (fellow nerds). I had to buy a water and some skittles to keep my energy going! At 12:01, the cashier started to check people out and within a few minutes, I had one in my hands. I couldn’t wait to go home, take a few pictures, blog then go to bed!

There are so many games I can’t wait to play, especially the unreleased Star Fox 2. I loved that game on the N64 so we’ll see if it lives up to my N64 standard. Pictures below of my trip and of the SNES on the table.

Let me know what you think in the comment section below. Follow me on YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter to see all news, videos, and live streams related to the SNES Classic and other video games!

Received some Amazon boxes. What’s inside?!

Yesterday I received a couple of boxes in the mail from Amazon. I quickly got my box cutter, pulled out the iPhone and began to record to do an in boxing video. I received a Eufy genie smart speaker which works with Amazon Alexa (review coming soon), a smartphone stand for my desk, and a keyboard cover for my 15″ MBP. More to come on these products and an inviting video. Pictures of the items below.
